Signs of Spring

It’s 38 degrees today.

It’s 13 days into the month of April, and it’s 38 degrees today.

I would look for daffodils or garlic scapes, but…it’s 13 days into the month of April, and it’s 38 degrees.

We still have snow on the ground.  In fact, it snowed last night.

This does NOT stop Mr. H.

He takes a great deal of pride in being first to have his dock in the lake (let me state right now that I openly acknowledge that there may be some….differences of opinion amongst our wonderful neighbors).

Mr. H. has been prowling around the house for the last several weeks waiting for the ice to finally disappear.

I thought at one point he might hook up an extension cord and hair dryer, hop into a canoe and help it along…but finally…yesterday…the ice moved out.

It is still 38 degrees outside.

Mr. H. was determined.  He dressed in several layers of long johns, several layers of hats and fluffed up his beard.

I kept an eye on him in case the water flooded his pants.  I don’t really know what I would have done…but I like to think I would have plunged into the 35 degree water and pulled him out by the back of the neck.  Like a springer spaniel saving her pup from the river.

I’d like to think that.

But, it snowed last night.  It’s 13 days into the month of April and it’s 38 degrees.

But Mr. H. got the dock in the water.

Thanks for the hour of laughter :) I don’t know you or your family but your tales had me laughing so hard I was in tears several times, lol. Found you by looking at fairy houses on Pinterest. So glad I did – signed up for emails. Thanks again for making me smile so much 😉

Thank you so much Jan!! I am up early(ish) this morning taking a generally darling, but now a little cranky, grandson to a hockey game. Seems fitting…since it’s STILL SO COLD!!! I am glad you are a new friend. There may still be frost on the ground, but you have warmed the cockles of my heart. Thank YOU….and more to come on the fairies this week. I’ve cracked the code on Purple Martin houses!!
