Remember the Lou Grant show?
(for those of you under the age of …. well … younger than me … Lou Grant was a spin-off of the Mary Tyler Moore Show).
Remember The Mary Tyler Moore Show?
Well, let’s get back to Lou Grant.
The opening credits of the show featured a blue bird sitting in a tree in the forest . . .
. . . that got cut down . . .
. . . and turned into pulp . . .
. . . that was used to make newspapers . . .
. . . that ended up lining a bird cage.
This expresses exactly my current relationship with newspaper.
I don’t read them any more and so I don’t have a subscription.
I don’t have a subscription, so I never have newspapers.
This wouldn’t be a problem normally, but one of my “big ideas” for Camp next week required a LOT of newspaper.
I asked our kids to bring some up over the 4th of July holiday.
Then I panicked.
I needed to make 180 logs of newspaper BEFORE camp (the boys will help make more newspaper logs AT Camp, but I’m fairly certain their attention span will not stretch to 240 newspaper logs).
I called out to our neighbors.
They happily complied. Thank you, neighbors!!
I got to work.
In the process of making the paper logs…
I found some recipes
considered some drinks
learned about guzzles
considered procuring cheese
reacquainted myself with Prince Valiant
and celebrated, once again, with the Blackhawks!! Go Hawks!
I suppose I could have gone a little faster, but I had a good time catching up on the news..
If you noticed that I didn’t pay any attention to any other current events….
that’s because the rest is for the birds . . .
(pssst…tune in next week to see what we do with our newspaper logs!!)
